Fleet Service Upgrade Project

Sustainability Problem and Proposed Solution: 

Recently, the fleet service GEM carts has been breaking down due to low quality lead acid battery source. This has been costing the university every time replacing the battery with new set which eventually broke down again. In our project, we will replace the old system with lead acid battery to new system with Lithium Ion battery providing higher power performance as well as range and cycle life.

By the end of Spring 2015, we will replace the old lead acid batteries system to the new lithium ion battery system.

Metrics for Success: 

The range performance achieved by the new system as short term result and gem carts extended life cycle as the long term result of the project.
