Battery Powered Mower replacement

Sustainability Problem and Proposed Solution: 

UCSC turf crew currently uses a gas powered mower to mow campus lawns. By using a battery powered mower, we will reduce the need for fossil fuels on campus. This will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

Project Description: 

My goal is to reduce the need for fossil fuels. Over several years this will result in a cost savings for Grounds. Fossil fuel costs will be eliminated completely. I am also looking to change the perception of Grounds Maintenance, being fossil fuel abusers. If the public sees UCSC as being pro active in regards to climate change, that would be a huge public relations victory for campus.

I will be measuring the fuels cost reduction and reduced carbon footprint

My project will result in a fuel cost savings for Grounds. A reduction in greenhouse gases will be achieved. My project won't really be complete, as the cost savings will continue for the life of the mower.
