1st Year of Central Coast Energy Services Project

For our project we conducted a survey aimed at understanding the behavior, beliefs and demographics of the particpants of Central Coast Energy Services (CCES) program, as well as which behavior, beliefs or demographics result in the lowest amount of energy usage. Central Coast Energy Services is a not for profit non-governmental organization that assists low income households in decreasing their monthly energy bills by implementing energy efficiency measures, such as weatherization or upgrading appliances.

After conducting the survey we analyzed the data and made recommendations to CCES on how best to allocate their time during their door-to-door campaign. We made recommendations based off of what behavior resulted in lowest energy usage, as well as what information most households lacked in regards to efficient and conservative energy use.

By contributing to CCES's knowledge of their participants we hoped to have improved their abilities to aid them in decreasing their monthly energy bills.

2nd Year of Central Coast Energy Services Project

For the second year of CCES project, the team focuses on updating the current energy appliances mandated by the federal government by compiling a list of potential energy efficient appliances and representing them to the Central Coast Energy Services agency for further analysis.

The team will be conducting cost and benefit analysis on each appliance. This analysis consists of analyzing the potential money saved, energy and GHGs emission reduction with the installation of the new appliance. These benefits will be compared to the original cost of the appliances in the cost and benefit analysis.

Cost and benefit analysis of each appliance will be presented to the Central Coast Energy Services for the final decision of its installation in low-income households.
