Energy efficient lighting in the Eloise Pickard Smith Gallery (Cowell College)

Sustainability Problem and Proposed Solution: 

The current lighting system in the EPS Gallery is not energy efficient. They require expensive bulbs that use more energy than LED lights and require more maintenance. Our plan is to replace these with energy-efficient LED bulbs that are estimated to last 20 years.

Project Description: 

June 2020 – Contacted the campus electricians for an assessment of the work
July 2020 – Identified the canisters that the campus electricians recommended. An order was placed and some of the canisters were received before the evacuation of the campus due to the fire.
September 2020 – removal of the old canisters, the ceiling and the track system will be prepped for the installation of the new canisters.
October 2020 – Installation of the new canisters.

Metrics for Success: 

By the completion of the project, we hope to have energy-efficient lighting in the Eloise Pickard Smith Gallery.
