Energy Efficient Refrigeration for the Slug Stop

Sustainability Problem and Proposed Solution: 

The purpose of this project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce Global Warming Potential, increase food safety, and bring awareness to the Carbon Fund and our sustainability efforts. The convenience store at Quarry Plaza currently has two refrigeration units that are at least ten years old and need to be replaced.

Project Description: 

We have sourced ideal replacement equipment: Model GDM-49-HC~TSL01 Swing Door Refrigerator and Model GDM-49F-HC~TSL01 Swing Door Freezer. Both of these replacement units use the preferred R290 refrigerant and will reduce our Global Warming Potential. These replacements will also allow us to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Together, the new refrigerator and freezer will use fewer kilowatt-hours than the two existing refrigerators. Another important element of this project is the responsible disposal of the existing equipment. Finally, we would like to use this opportunity to create visibility for the Carbon Fund and our campus sustainability efforts.
