Transitioning Landscaping Equipment from Gas Power to Battery Power

Sustainability Problem and Proposed Solution: 

This project will help minimize reliance on fossil fuels.

Helps educate equipment users and the Residential Life Community on the technology that is currently at our disposal.

It will help keep our work spaces free from the environmental hazards of storing these volatile chemicals at our Housing Facility.

Project Description: 

The main objective of this project is to rid ourselves of gasoline powered landscape equipment in exchange for cleaner and quieter, battery powered landscape equipment. (Spring of 2020)

After this; the elimination of gasoline storage at our Housing Facilities would ensure that we don't have to accommodate for this hazard storage. (Winter of 2021)

Metrics for Success: 

Ultimately, the removal of all gasoline storage at our Housing Facility.

Next Steps: 
1) Equipment purchased. 2) Get rid of remaining gasoline powered equipment. 3) Get rid of gasoline and gasoline storage at our Housing Facilities.

The tangible results would be the acquisition and use of battery powered equipment by the Ground's Crew (2020). The project will be ongoing until all gasoline powered equipment has been removed and gasoline storage at our Housing Facility has been removed (2021).
